DROPKEYS SAX & DROPKEYS TMP for the ASM Diosynth

DROPKEYS SAX has an overall light spring playing feel. They are longer and larger at the touch points than the stock Diosynth keys. They have flat textured surface touch points vs the smooth concave touch points on the stock Diosynth key set. The pinky keys are longer, textured, and they are rounded. The overall DROPKEYS SAX feel is much different than the stock Diosynth keys. DROPKEYS SAX do have a little bit of side to side wiggle in much the same way as the stock Diosynth keys do. The wiggle may seem more apparent due to the longer length of the keys. DROPKEYS SAX are more evenly spaced vs Diosynth stock keys and feature a rounded Bb Bis key. Lastly, DROPKEYS SAX feature an optionally installed alt F# wrap around key that is articulated from the opposite side of the Diosynth body.

DROPKEYS TMP also has a light feel and uses two types rebounding tensioners. The smaller rectangular trill keys use springs on both sides of the key. They provide a constant light amount of resistance against your fingers as you hold the keys down. The three larger round main lower stack right hand keys use opposing magnets that are hidden inside each key stack. They require very little force to push down and will immediately pop back up to the open position when released. This allows for fast and accurate playing. Best playing results are achieved by applying the fingers on the center point of both the trill and main keys. Note, Diosynth with Dropkeys TMP will likely require some practice time to get fully used to playing. This because there really isn't anything else that is just like the Diosynth / Dropkeys TMP combination and it should be considered a whole new instrument. Dropkeys TMP fingering is based on the Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI) system invented by Nyle Steiner and found on many Akai EWI, Berglund NuEVI, and other electronic wind instruments. The biggest difference is Dropkeys TMP are actual physical moving keys rather than immovable capacitive touch points found on those other examples. That means, you can lay your fingers on the keys without activating them unless you push down. That’s something you cannot do with capacitive key touches. This also means it will take some practice time to get used the feel of the keys and how they respond to your playing. There will also be some related key noise just like any other real moving key system. This is normal and expected.

The combination of Diosynth with Dropkeys TMP installed is best viewed as its own unique instrument. With more time and practice comes more appreciation. There's nothing out there quite like it anywhere else. Please consider this before ordering.

Regarding trill keys; At the time of this writing, not all of the trill keys are fully implemented within Diosynth firmware v1.1.4 as they are specified in the Diosynth Owners Manual for trumpet fingerings. Dropkeys TMP is designed on the basis and expectation of the trill keys fully operational with an eventual future firmware update. Lying Awake Creations cannot and does not guarantee fully operational trill keys for trumpet fingerings.

 Yes. Diosynth with DROPKEYS SAX installed fits fine in the hard shell case. Note, only DROPKEYS SAX applies here. DROPKEYS TMP is too tall to fit inside the hard case while installed. It is not recommended you use some other type of soft case with Dropkeys.

Yes. Simply use a butter knife to gently separate the Dropkeys covers away from the casings. You can also remove the Dropkeys SAX alternate F# key wrap by just pulling it away from the Diosynth body. An additional set of sticky dots is included should you wish to reinstall Dropkeys.

DROPKEYS SAX are now available in 8 standard color themes. DROPKEYS TMP are now available in 4 standard color themes. Limited edition colors are offered from time to time as well. Using DROPKEYS may void the Diosynth warranty. Although no official answer has been giving such far from ASM. Lying Awake Creations does not offer a replacement warrantee for the Diosynth.
